February 12th- "DVD Petition for original releases"
It has been announced recently that when the Classic Trilogy is released on DVD,
that it will be the special additions of the films that everyone will see. The original
movies as we know them will never be released on DVD. If you are like me, this
is very disappointing news, and obviously fans feel the same way. If you are one
of these fans, take a second and add your name to this growing petition. Will it
guarantee that the originals are released on DVD? No, but it might influence the
powers that be and make them realize that there is a demand for the movies that
we marvelled at in the theatres and have grown to love in their original form. Click
here to add your name to the petition that was started by another loyal "original
version" Star Wars fan. I personally think that they should be able to have both
versions on the disk. So that way, everyone has the choice.
January 24th- "More new figures"
Looks like we can look forward to increasing our droid collection in the
near future.
Hasbro's official site has posted pictures of two upcoming deluxe droids -
The Spider Droid and the Super Battle Droid Builder. The first one can be seen
during the battle of Geonosis, and the cool thing is it is a windup toy that can walk
all by itself. The second is a do-it yourself Super Battle Droid kit. Check out all
the information at the official Hasbro site.
Rebelscum has also posted pictures of the two upcoming Unleashed series figures.
Slave Leia and Darth Vader. Stop by their site for the details.
"Cheap Slave-1 and Mace Windu"
If you haven't picked up the Slave-1 ship or 12" Mace Windu figure yet, stop by
your nearest Toys R Us location to pick either up for only $19.98 each. The store
I visited had plenty of both available for purchase.
January 16th- "Figure of the Year at Artoo's news"
The guys over at Artoo's News have announced their choices as well as the fan
choices for the best of 2002 in the Star Wars collection. Check out the choices.
Do they match your picks?
"Jedi Padawan 2 packs"
Hasbro has released more pics of upcoming figures. This time it is couple of two packs
that are set for release in the spring of 2003. These 2 packs consist of Yoda with Chian,
and Ashla and Jempa. Stop by their site to take a look.
January 14th- "New Hasbro figures"
Hasbro's official site has released two pictures of upcoming figures. The first is a
remake of Han Solo Hoth that comes with Luke's lightsaber and other goodies.
The other is Chewbacca recreating the scene where they are fighting off the mynocks.
Chewy comes with his bowcaster, breathing mask and more. Check out Hasbro's
site for more information.
"The Tie-Bomber is back"
For those who missed out the first time around, Artoo's news is reporting that
a repackaged Saga Tie Bomber has started showing up in the U.S at Wal-Mart
stores. Update: These are also apparently being found at Target stores as well.
"Imax Attack of the Clones"
If you live in the Winnepeg area and want to see something truly amazing, make
sure you go and see Attack of the Clones in IMAX. A friend of mine saw the
movie in Toronto and other than having to be edited down to two hours for
technical reasons said the movie looked amazing!
January 7th- "Fully Operational"
The site's links are fully operational! Although some things may change, everything
seems to be working fine. In the next couple of days we will be back to posting news
for the Star Wars collecting community. We will also be adding a new section to the
site "43 Hanna Ave." that will feature information on Canadian Star Wars collectibles
that were never available in the U.S. This time around, we have also added the
Canadian Store Listings page for visitors that are looking for more avenues to help
fill out their collections. Have a Canadian store not listed? Let us know.
January 1st- "The Dark Side Collector Strikes Back!"
After a 6 month hiatus, the site is back! Check back frequently as we will have the
site fully operational in the near future. We also plan on adding more sections and
expanding on others to give the best information to the Star Wars collecting
community. As always though, we need help with that, so if you have any collecting
information then don't hesitate to send it into The Dark Side Collector.
